Studio Rocco Verdult was asked to create a design to engage residents of the Afrikaanderbuurt with their market. The stripy plastic market bags inspired me to make football shirts for a fictional club ‘FC Afrikaandermarkt’.
I put four teams together with their very own striped club colors, each sponsored by a market stall; the white-and-blue team had the title ‘Demirci Deep-fried Fish’ printed on their shirts and the green-and-white team had ‘Din Rahmania World Fabrics’.I gathered kids from the area to compete for a real-life special prize, which for this project we called: “Cup of Good Hope”.
