Studio Rocco Verdult was approached to make a temporary meeting place as part of the European Cultural Capital 2010.
Because of poor planning by city management, the main square of the inner city was not yet ready. The hard-working builders bore the brunt of it all, kneeling in the snow or cutting stones without dust-masks under the blazing sun.I wove picnic tablecloths from discarded packing straps that had been used to pack the stones together. Then I invited the construction workers to a gallery on the square, gave a lecture about my project, and served them a free lunch of rolls with salmon, asparagus with ham, and carrot soup etc.
